Clinical Hypnosis for pain management by Giancarlo Russo
Modern pain research emphasizes how crucial the right words are when communicating with patients. Yet, many of us still struggle to truly connect and communicate well. Hypnosis is a methodological, scientifically proven way of using words to help people change for the better. No nonsense, no voodoo. Even if you never plan to practice hypnosis yourself, this course will teach you how to build better relationships and communication with your patients.
Hypnosis is one of the most effective and safest methods for pain management – with no side effects or contraindications. It can be applied by specialists working in many fields of healthcare: doctors, physiotherapists, rehabilitation professionals, dentists, midwives, nurses, and others.
Over the past 50 years, research has shown that hypnosis can significantly reduce pain of different origins (clinical, ischemic, thermal, electrostimulation, or pressure-induced). It has also been proven to be more effective than other psychological methods such as distraction or biofeedback, since hypnosis influences both the sensory-discriminative and affective (suffering) components of pain.
This 2.5-day course (January 23-25, 2026) will give you both the theory and the practical tools you need to apply hypnosis. Lecturer Giancarlo Russo will guide you through:
- What hypnosis is (and what it is not)
- Understanding the patient
- Non-verbal communication
- Conditions required for hypnosis
- Skills and hypnotic phenomena – induction methods
- How to hypnotize
- Hypnosis strategies
- Hypnosis and pain
- Hypnosis and safety
A large part of the seminar will focus on practical training: you will work in pairs or small groups, practicing hypnosis under the lecturer’s guidance. By the end of the course, you will have the full set of practical skills needed to use hypnosis for pain management.
The seminar will take place at “Margis” countryside hotel, where learning and practice can naturally extend beyond the classroom into beautiful nature and the spa center. For this reason, we recommend staying on site. Accommodation is available with a discount through us (double room – €78.40, single room – €68.60).
The course will be held in English.
